Kavorka

the lure of the animal

Overview

Kavorka is a word created by the sitcom Seinfeld. In the episode “The Conversion,” a Latvian Orthodox priest says that Kramer has the Kavorka. It means “the lure of the animal,” according to the Urban Dictionary in this episode the priest described “it as a curse, making someone irresistible to anyone of the opposite sex, even attractive to the same sex, as people will be naturally drawn to you. It's a heavy responsibility to have to be imposed with everyone's lusty wants, hence, it's a consideration as a curse. People will want to be with you, be like you, be you”.

Assuming that the Orthodox Church of Latvia considered Kavorka a curse coming from the most animal side of the human being, I had the idea to visually represent Latvian wild animals by the photos of their skin, fur and feathers.

Going deeper into the culture of the Latvian people, I found many symbols connected to the mythology of the Latgallian tribes, who lived in Latvia in the Iron Age. Because they are a significant part of the Latvian culture and more connected with nature, I used these signs to create the Kavorka brand symbol and also the mark related to each product.
